Successfully obtained $1.3 million earmarked
funding in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2004 Transportation-Treasury Appropriations
bill to deploy LogicTree’s VoxLink technology.
Secured $150,000 congressional earmark in the FY 04 from the Intelligent
Transportation System (ITS) account to deploy GeoDecisions’
GEARS technology.
Obtained a grant – i.e., an ITS Task Order -- for the California
Alliance for Advanced Transportation Systems (CAATS) from the U.S.
Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration.
Received Rights-of-Way permission and contract from the Virginia Department
of Transportation to deploy SpeedInfo’s BestRoute. Moreover,
obtained permission from the D.C. Department of Transportation to
install sensors in Washington, D.C.
Negotiated GeoDecisions’ appearance before the U.S. House of
Representatives, Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure
on ITS, and drafted their testimony and press release.
Created the ITS Congressional Caucus, and was instrumental in inserting
two GeoDecisions executives on the 19-member caucus. The Caucus played
a crucial role in increasing ITS dedicated funding to $4 billion under
TEA-LU, the new transportation legislation.
Successful in procuring a “Dear Colleague” letter of support
for the CAATS, which was signed by several members of the California
congressional delegation.
Obtained letter of support from the Pennsylvania congressional delegation
for GeoDecisions’ PA-GEARS project, which was sent to the Department
of Homeland Security’s Under Secretary Hutchinson and Office
of Domestic Preparedness Director Mencer. Received commitments from
DHS to deploy geospatial and GIS technololgy.
Instrumental in securing congressional earmarks in FY 03 and 04 for
PAR to deploy their GPS-enabled container tracking technology for
logistics management and homeland security.
